RESEARCH CALL: SEEKING FOR BELGIAN, GREEK AND NORWEGIAN NONRELIGIOUS INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN AN INTERVIEW REGARDING THEIR NONRELIGIOUS VIEWS.

RESEARCH CALL: SEEKING FOR BELGIAN, GREEK AND NORWEGIAN NONRELIGIOUS INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN AN INTERVIEW REGARDING THEIR NONRELIGIOUS VIEWS.

Hello! My name is Sofia Nikitaki and I am a religious studies scholar. At this moment, I am doing my PhD in the faculty of Theology and Religious Studies of the University of Leuven in Belgium (KU Leuven), with a scholarship from the F.W.O. (Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek – Vlaanderen/Research Foundation – Flanders). My work aims into a qualitative exploration of non-religion/nonbelief in 3 European countries with different cultural/religious backgrounds (Greece/Belgium/Norway).

At the moment I’m looking for people who understand and define themselves as “non-religious” (i.e.: atheist/agnostic/spiritual but not religious/religiously indifferent/etc) and who are interested in participating in an interview regarding their views on issues related to their nonreligious identity, their views on religion, and their ideas about ‘god’, ‘higher power’, etc. The participants must have followed their basic education in Belgium, Greece or Norway and must be born between 1981-1998.

The research interviews will be conducted through an online telecommunications platform (i.e.: skype, messenger, whatsapp, zoom, etc), will be in English and are expected to last about 1 hour. The Greek participants can also request to be interviewed in Greek.

The interviews will be recorded with a professional voice recorder and then transcribed verbatim. The audio files will be deleted upon the completion of the transcript. It is important to note that your personal data (real name and other personal/identifiable information) will not be disclosed or written down anywhere, as this investigation is to remain strictly anonymous.

A consent form to be read and completed prior to the interview is already available on request. The consent form, questions and research methodology of this project have been already approved by the KU Leuven Social and Societal Ethics Committee (https://www.kuleuven.be/english/research/ethics/committees/smec).
